ash parts ways with GamerLegion

GamerLegion have announced that they have parted ways with Ashley "ash" Battye , bringing the 35-year-old's over five-year stint with the organization to an end.

"We want to take a moment to thank Ash for everything he has given to our organization," GamerLegion 's statement read. "We are deeply grateful for all the many years he has contributed to GamerLegion and wish him all the best on the next chapter of his journey."

ash joined GamerLegion mid-way through 2020 as the organization rebuilt their lineup following the departure of their Swedish core featuring the likes of William "draken" Sundin , Dennis "dennis" Edman and Hampus "hampus" Poser .

The British coach impressed even in his early days with the organization, helping the team climb to 25th in the HLTV world ranking by early 2022. Another revamp of the playing squad mid-way through 2022 would herald even greater things to come.

With the additions of the likes of Kamil "siuhy" Szkaradek and Frederik "acoR" Gyldstrand , GamerLegion grew in stature across 2022 and early 2023 before making one of the most memorable runs in Major history at BLAST.tv Paris Major, going all the way to the grand final before being defeated by Vitality .

Said Major run put ash 's name firmly on the map, and he continued to guide his teams to impressive performances in the following years, despite regularly losing his better players to big-name teams.

The 35-year-old stepped down from the helm of GamerLegion late last year amidst troubles with burnout, following a jam-packed year of LAN tournaments with his side as well as struggles to find a suitable AWPer after the removal of Henrich "sl3nd" Hevesi .

Not long after his self-benching it became apparent that ash was looking to take the next step in his coaching career upon his return, telling HLTV in an interview conducted at the HLTV Awards that "it's moment where I'm ready to move on, I'm in a situation where I think it's probably the right time for me."
