Gaimin Gladiators have confirmed the rumored signing of Fernando "fer" Alvarenga to their Counter-Strike roster in time for the IEM Cologne Major.
The 34-year-old comes in to replace João "felps" Vasconcellos , who was unceremoniously removed from the organization earlier this week.
The move sees fer , an icon of Brazilian Counter-Strike and two-time Major winner from 2016, return to an organization for the first time in over three years, after he last played with the Last Dance roster under the Imperial banner in 2022.
He's back just in time to return to the city where he won his second Major with SK , Cologne, where Gaimin Gladiators secured their participation after a last-minute push for VRS points before the April invite cut-off.
They will start the Major from Stage 1, which kicks off on June 2.
"He retired as a legend. Two Majors, an entire generation inspired. But legends don't stay still forever. fer is returning to competitive CS, and he's returning as a Gladiator," a post on X from Gaimin Gladiators reads.
Gaimin Gladiators ' lineup is:
Jhonatan "JOTA" Willian Gabriel "NEKIZ" Schenato Henrique "HEN1" Teles Luca "Luken" Nadotti Fernando "fer" Alvarenga
João "horvy" Horvath (coach)
